Dr McCrea studied at The Royal Dental Hospital, of London University, qualifying with BDS in 1979, then gaining LDSRCS (Eng) in 1980. He has been a member of the Work-Study Groups in Implantology, Prosthodontics and Periodontics. By examination, he gained the Specialist Certificate in Dental Radiology from the University of Essen and the DMD from the University of Munster. In 2003, he gained by examination the MFGDP, RCS (Eng). In 2005 he completed a Master of Science Degree (MSc) in Dental and Maxillofacial Radiology at King’s College, London, Master of Medical Science (MMedSci) in Dental Implantology from the University of Sheffield in 2010 and Master of Science (MSc) in Stem Cells and Regeneration from the University of Bristol in 2014. Shane has served on the Advisory Committee of the British Society of Oral Implantology and Work Study Group leader for the South of England and has been a speaker at the Association of Dental Implantology’s National Forums, the European Congress and the World Congress for Dental and Maxillofacial Radiology. Shane has had twenty-one papers published since 2008 in a plethora of scientific journals, resulting in him been honoured with the position of Peer Reviewer. Dr McCrea’s passion for surgery, as stated has seen him recognised by international Journals as an innovator in surgical techniques that have helped advance oral surgery, implantology and periodontal micro-surgery.
