Dermot qualified from QUB in 2001 and, after several years working north and south of the border, moved to Edinburgh to work in a private practice. He became interested in periodontics (disease and treatment of the supporting structures of teeth) and in 2011 was awarded an MSc (honours) specialising in this subject at Glasgow Dental Hospital. While there he lectured in periodontal disease and worked in the consultant clinic of the Glasgow restorative department. After liasing closely with Scottish immunologists he published work on the role that bacteria and the immune response play in the pathogenesis of Rheumatoid Arthritis. This academic grounding enables Dermot to focus on the treatment of tooth infections (endodontics) and gum infections (periodontics) as well as providing novel facial rejuvenation treatments based on harnessing the healing mechanisms of the human body. Dermot is interested in advanced aesthetics and has attended various detailed courses covering many restorative techniques including the placement and restoration of dental implants, dermal fillers, and PRGF-Endoret.
