Almarie qualified as a dentist in 1993 from the University of Pretoria. She went on to complete a diploma in clinical dentistry from the University of Stellenbosch. In 2002 she decided to limit her practice to Orthodontics and completed a postgraduate Diploma in Primary Care Orthodontics and the Royal College of Surgeons in London. She is also a proud mother of two daughters, and enjoys gardening and racket sports.
