Laurie is our principal dentist at Ravenshead Dental Practice and prides himself on attention to detail, good listening skills and a gentle manner, while providing comprehensive dentistry to the highest of standards. He has previously worked in private practices in Bath and Cheltenham, and moved to Nottingham in 2011. He is married to Louise who is training to be an anaesthetist, and has two young children, Tom and Holly. Laurie has studied extensively since he qualified from Cardiff Dental School in 1999, continuing his passion to deliver excellence in all areas of dentistry. He has attended numerous postgraduate courses to keep up to date with the latest techniques and knowledge. He has completed a Masters degree in restorative dentistry and is confident treating complex cases as well as providing routine dental care. Restorative dentistry is the area of dentistry that covers the restoration of oral and dental tissues for patients. It includes the disciplines of periodontology (the prevention and treatment of gum disease), endodontics (root canal treatments) and prosthodontics (the replacement of teeth). He is a graduate of the internationally recognized Dawson Academy for Advanced Dental Study in Florida, and has completed his membership examinations for the Faculty of Dental Surgery. Laurie has been awarded fellowship of the Faculty of General Dental Practitioners. This is the highest qualification that can be gained by a dentist, made in recognition of high standards, and is akin to a quality kitemark or a primary care specialism, attesting to the quality of his work and achievement. Laurie has also qualified with a diploma in postgraduate dental studies from Bristol University, and is certified in providing orthodontics (teeth straightening) including Invisalign, Inman Aligners and Six-Month Smiles. He is a certified laser dentist and is one of only a few dentists in the UK to provide cerec restorations using the Cerec Omnicam system.
