Dr William Holme

William Holme is Towngate’s Dentist with a Special Interest in Endodontics (Root canal treatment), taking referrals for complex root canal treatments and restoratively compromised teeth. Will was ‘born and bred’ in Leyland, and was even a patient at Towngate as a child before leaving to complete his BDS degree at Newcastle University, graduating in 2016. Will has worked in both general dental practice as well as restorative and surgical roles at Liverpool and Manchester’s Dental hospitals, and the Royal Preston Hospital. During this time Will completed The Membership of the Faculty of Dental Surgery examinations with Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons, Glasgow. Will has been providing high quality general dentistry alongside the team at Towngate Dental Practice since February 2021. Where possible, Will goes to great lengths to save badly broken down or infected teeth, and completed the highly regarded clinical Masters in Endodontology degree at the University of Central Lancashire (UCLan) in 2023, graduating with distinction and winning the Dentsply Sirona Postgraduate Award in Endodontology. Dr Holme is well equipped with state of the art, specialist level equipment such as his high magnification operating microscope, to tackle difficult endodontic cases. William welcomes endodontic referrals at Towngate Dental Practice, for cases ranging from complex canal anatomy to difficult re-treatment cases, compromised access or post removals, endodontic troubleshooting such as separated instruments or perforations, simple surgical endodontics and second opinions. Alongside his clinical work, Will is also an associate lecturer and clinical teacher at UCLan for the undergraduate and postgraduate endodontic programmes, as well as providing endodontic courses and lectures for dentists at local and national events. He has also been awarded the Aspiring Endodontic Researcher award in 2024 by the British Endodontic Society, with whom he holds a membership, and routinely attends their conferences to keep up to date with modern advancements and practices.
