Having grown up locally, I moved to London to study dentistry at King’s College, graduating in 1997. I continued to work in London and furthered my education in 2002 on the world-class Certificate in Restorative Dentistry at the renowned Eastman Dental Institute. I started working at Heathwood in 2003, and 2 years later, my wife Neena and I designed and built new state-of-the-art dental premises, into which we relocated Heathwood Dental Practice, having taken over the business. Having a special interest in root canal treatments, I completed the demanding Eastman Dental Hospital Certificate in Endodontics between 2006 and 2007. This advanced training equipped me to deal with complex cases. I also had a surgical microscope installed to facilitate these micro-surgical techniques. Next came the exclusive Ab Initio Continuum course in 2011; this has equipped me with cutting-edge skills in producing beautiful composite (white) fillings with a photo-realistic finish. I have received training from some of the world experts in minimally invasive dentistry. This is a passion of mine and heralds a different approach to treatment, in which we identify factors leading to decay to help reduce the risk; we are able to treat some early decay by reversing the damage that has occurred. If it is necessary to treat a cavity, this can often be done without using drills or local anaesthetics. I believe that being able to detect early decay and stop it in its tracks without cutting away swathes of tooth is the peak of modern dentistry!
