Dr. Shad Hattaway is experienced with all aspects of dental health and has advanced training in dental case management – treatment phasing, and full mouth rehabilitation which examines the functional and aesthetic aspects of the entire mouth, not just one tooth. He is particularly skilled with the replacement of completely or partially missing dentition using dentures with implant attachments. His restorative and prosthodontic interests include single and multi-unit ceramic restorations and veneers. His surgical specialties include extractions with bone grafting for future implant placement. He also has comprehensive knowledge of the effects of severe dry mouth and of the soft tissue side effects of chemo and radiation therapy. He treats both adults and children and especially enjoys building lifelong relationships with his patients. His commitment to his craft comes from a strong motivation to provide the highest quality dental care. He earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree at the University of Michigan School of Dentistry and a Bachelor of Science degree in zoology/animal biology from Idaho State University. During his residency in advanced general dentistry at Case Western Reserve University and University Hospitals in Cleveland, Ohio, he focused on full mouth rehabilitation, including dental implants. He also provided comprehensive care to patients at the Seidman Cancer Center. He was awarded the Resident of the Year Award. As a Master of the Academy of General Dentistry, Dr. Hattaway continually refines his knowledge and explores the most conservative techniques in dentistry. He believes that patient education is one of the strongest forms of prevention and is committed to the community, volunteering on his days off to provide dental services to low-income families in Tarrant County. He was awarded the Sally Hooper Gold Crown Award in 2017 for his dedication and service to Dental Health for Arlington and received the New Dentist of the Year by the Dallas County Dental Society in the same year. He is a member of the American Dental Association®, the Texas Dental Association and the Academy of General Dentistry. He is currently on the board of directors for a non-profit dental organization in Arlington. He was recognized by the Dallas County Dental Society as New Dentist of the Year in 2017 for his contributions to the organization, the profession of dentistry, and the community. He received the AGD Fellowship Award in 2017.
