As a native of Vinton, IA she graduated from the Hawkeye Community College in Waterloo and practiced for 12 years as a Dental Hygienist. During that time, she developed a strong interest in periodontal surgery, which led her to further her education. Dr. Kuempel graduated from the University of Iowa Dental School in 1995, and completed her Periodontal Residency at the University of Iowa in 1998. She has won undergraduate research awards and graduate periodontics awards. Dr. Kuempel received her Board Certification in May 1999. She started her own Periodontics practice in December 1998 and joined Cedar Rapids Periodontics on July 1, 2023 when her practice was acquired.
