Dr. R. Brooks Legg, Jr. was raised in Indore, West Virginia. His parents were R. Brooks Legg, Sr. and Monica Legg. He attended the public schools of Clay County, graduating from Clay County High School in 1968. Dr. Legg attended the University of Kentucky and West Virginia University, where he majored in Chemistry and Physics. He graduated from the West Virginia University School of Dentistry in 1975, third in his class of 68. Dr. Legg earned special honors, including: election to Omicron Kappa Upsilon, the honor dental fraternity, the American Academy of Oral Medicine Award, a Certificate of Honor, the C.V. Mosby Award, and the Dentsply Removable Prosthodontics Award. Dr. Legg has practiced continuously in Clay since August 1975. He and his wife Diann have been married for 39 years. They have three children: Jeanne, Brooks, and Lydia, a 2007 graduate of the WVU School of Dentistry. An Eagle Scout, Dr. Legg was a cubmaster and scoutmaster for more than 20 years. He was elected to the Clay County Board of Education in 1986 and was selected as President in 1998. Dr. Legg has always been active in improving the economic and educational opportunities for the citizens of Clay County. Dr. Legg is a certified laser technician and especially enjoys treating the many children in his practice. Dr. Legg is also a deacon and Sunday school teacher in the Buffalo Valley Baptist Church in Clay, West Virginia.
