Graduated locally from Smithfield-Selma Senior High School. She attended Peace College and Stetson University where she completed her Bachelor of Science in Chemistry. She played tennis for both schools and still enjoys playing today. She returned to North Carolina to attend dental school at UNC Chapel Hill. She received her Doctorate of Dental Surgery in 1991 and began practicing in St. Pauls, NC and Lumberton, NC. She returned to Smithfield and has been practicing family dentistry for 31 years. She has been married for 26 years to her husband, Jody and has two daughters - Carly and Erin, and four grandchildren - Annabelle, Lillian, Penelope and Lennox. She enjoys tennis, time at the beach and traveling.
