Dr. Shawna Jackson was born in Galveston, Texas on August 6 many years ago. She enlisted in the US Army in 1998 completing her training as a medical laboratory technician at both Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio and Tripler Army Hospital in Oahu, Hawaii. She was awarded the Army Green to Gold scholarship in 2001 and became a member of the Texas A&M Corps of Cadets where she earned her Basic Parachutist badge in 2004. She graduated from Texas A&M University with a Baccalaureate of Science Degree in 2006. Dr. Jackson was selected for the Navy Health Services Collegiate Program for Dental school. She graduated with a Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio and was commissioned a Lieutenant in the United States Navy in 2010. She completed her Advanced Education in General Dentistry (AEGD) from Naval Station Great Lakes in 2011. After residency she was the Dental Officer aboard the USS Mesa Verde (LPD-19) for 2 years where she deployed to the Mediterranean Sea and Gulf of Aden earning her Surface Warfare Medical Department Officer device. In 2013, she returned to Great Lakes working at USS Osborne Prosthodontics Department where she provided chairside crowns for recruits. She was selected for graduate training and received her Master’s of Science and Certificate in Operative Dentistry from the University of Michigan School of Dentistry in 2018. In the summer of 2018, she served with the 13th Dental Company, 1st Dental Battalion at Marine Corps Air Station (MCAS) Miramar in San Diego, CA where she earned her Fleet Marine Force warfare device. In 2021, she was selected to serve the position of Captain James A. Lovell FHCC Assistant AEGD Director, graduating two classes before being appointed to the AEGD Director role, graduating another two classes for a total of 25 residents mentored.
