Dr. John Wietholder and his wife Trisha grew up in west-central Illinois, near Quincy. They were married in 2005 and have two children, Lucas and Ellie. Dr. Wietholder received his bachelor’s degree from Quincy University, then enlisted in the U.S. Army. While serving in the Army, Dr. Wietholder obtained his master’s degree. Shortly thereafter, he attended dental school at Southern Illinois University School of Dental Medicine, graduating Cum Laude in 2011. Dr. Wietholder then completed a one-year residency in general dentistry with the Army at Fort Campbell, Kentucky. He deployed to both Iraq and Afghanistan and completed his active duty service recently after 10 years. He continues to serve in the U.S. Army Reserves. During his dental training, Dr. Wietholder received additional education in dental implants, orthodontics (braces), wisdom teeth, and dental sleep medicine to treat obstructive sleep apnea.
