Dr. James M. Pietrofesa grew up on Staten Island, New York the oldest of three siblings. He attended Wagner College after receiving an academic scholarship. There he was a Dean's List student with a major in Biology. Dr. Pietrofesa was a member of the Tri-Beta Biological Honor Society and the Omicron Delta Kappa Honor Society. Dr. Pietrofesa was also involved in research at (IBR) Institute For Basic Research in New York where his name was published in multiple articles in The American Journal of Medical Genetics for work on the Fragile X Syndrome. Dr. Pietrofesa was admitted into the prestigious 7 year BS/DDS with New York University College of Dentistry. There he earned his D.D.S. (Doctor of Dental Surgery) degree in 2000. Rather than go into practice immediately after graduation, Dr. Pietrofesa elected to continue his academic training at New York Methodist Hospital in a one year residency in general dentistry, where he was awarded "Resident of the Year" honors in 2001. From that point Dr. Pietrofesa has been with South Plainfield Dental Arts. Dr. Pietrofesa is a current member of the American Dental Association, Academy of General Dentistry, New Jersey Dental Association and a past faculty member at New York University College of Dentistry. Since finishing his residency he has been in practice focusing on comprehensive dental care, including cosmetic, implant and preventative care. Dr Pietrofesa currently resides in New Jersey with his wife and two children.
