Dr Jerald Scharfenberg

Dr. Jerald Scharfenberg has been serving the community with high-quality, compassionate dental care for over 35 years. He is known as a detail-oriented practitioner with an intense commitment to personalized patient care. Dr. Jerry has strong ties to the community; he settled in Elmhurst over 35 years ago, he raised his children in this community, and he currently lives in Elmhurst with his wife Aggie. His favorite part of dentistry is that it allows him to meet and get to know new patients every day. Dr. Jerry graduated from Drake University School of Pharmacy in 1966, after which he entered the US Army. He was first stationed at the Pentagon pharmacy, and then deployed to Vietnam for one year in the US Army Medical Corps at Pleiku. Dr. Jerry then enrolled at the University of Illinois Dental School, graduating with honors in 1974. In school he received the Stanley D. Tylman Award for Excellence in Restorative Dentistry and he was inducted into Omicron Kappa Upsilon (OKU), the National Dental Honor Society. Dr. Jerry served as an assistant professor in the Crown and Bridge Department at UIC Dental School for 8 years. His commitment to education persists in his practice today. He has completed extensive continuing education hours in order to bring state-of-the-art, innovative dental care to his patients.
