Dr. Travis Alcorn D.D.S. grew up in Brookings, Oregon. His parents owned and operated a small sandwich bakery called Home Port Bagels and Sandwiches. He learned early on the value of hard work, service and community involvement. While serving a church mission in Russia, Dr. Alcorn gained a strong desire to get into a medical field, as that is where he felt he could help others the most in his life. After returning from his mission trip, he attended undergraduate school at BYU and Utah Valley University, but took a break from his education to pursue a career as a corporate executive pastry chef with a fast-growing bakery chain called Kneaders Bakery, even attending a few semesters of culinary school in the process. It was in this career that he met his wife, Jolene. After spending seven years as a pastry chef, he decided to follow his heart and attended the University of Utah School of Dentistry, a school known for a program that offers a strong clinical experience. His wife and three kids share his love of the Oregon coast. Dr. Alcorn is excited to call Florence his home and be back in the beauty of the Pacific Northwest. He loves the outdoors, as well as cooking, collecting and playing board games, making chocolate from scratch, and wrestling. Most of all, however, he is excited to be in a community where he can teach his children the same values that he learned from his parents growing up.
