Dr. Susan Althoff (Obermiller) has had a wonderful first few years getting to know the wonderful patients of Southpointe Dental. Dr. Lichtsinn created so many meaningful relationships that it’s been a true joy to pick up where he left off. These years have been, by far, the most rewarding of her 10 in dentistry. She looks forward to creating genuine, lifelong relationships with new patients and building on those established with the current team. Dr. Althoff grew up in Fargo, attending North High School and Concordia College where she majored in biology and played soccer. She earned her Doctorate in Dental Surgery from the University of Minnesota School of Dentistry in 2016. After graduating from dental school, Dr. Althoff worked as a general dentist in Colorado Springs, Colorado, expanding her skills in fixed and removable prosthodontics and cosmetic dentistry. Upon her husband’s completion of service as a US Army Green Beret, Dr. Althoff and her husband moved to Minneapolis, MN. In Minneapolis, she furthered her dental skills becoming proficient in endodontics, pediatric dentistry, Invisalign orthodontics and oral surgery as well as staying current with the latest technology. In Fargo, she worked at Friendly Smiles where she was able to use the latest technology to help patients with more complex dental needs including TMD and sleep disordered breathing. She is looking forward to bringing the knowledge she has gained over the last 6 years to Southpointe Dental. Dr. Althoff is passionate about providing the highest quality of care to her patients. Her focus is helping patients understand why treatment is recommended through intra-oral pictures and an open, honest dialogue so they can make an educated decision to improve their oral health. She truly cares about each patient and will always do her best to communicate effectively and empathetically and provide the best care possible. Dr. Althoff is committed to lifelong education and is specifically interested in the connection between oral and systemic health. As research in dentistry continues to progress, there is a lot to learn about how airway, sleep, oral systemic health, and dentistry overlap. Dentistry and overall health are intimately connected, and she hopes to continue Dr. Lichtsinn’s work to help patient’s achieve total health.
