Dr. Zita Henry (previously Dr. Baker) knew she wanted to be a dentist from a young age. Her middle school boyfriend had less than ideal breath and she told him she would become a dentist and help him out. She did become a dentist and loves helping people by providing personalized solutions. She graduated with her bachelor’s degree in dental hygiene from the University of Maryland School of Dentistry. After practicing dental hygiene for a few years, she earned her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree at Howard University College of Dentistry. She completed a residency at the North Carolina Department of Rural Health working with migrant farmers. Continuing her education, she has trained at the Bicon Institute for Dental Implants and the Las Vegas Institute for Advanced Dental Studies. She is a member of the National Dental Association, the American Dental Association, the Academy of General Dentistry, the North Carolina Dental Society, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc, and Omicron Kappa Upsilon (The National Dental Honor Society). Because she originally trained as a hygienist, Dr. Henry places special emphasis on the importance of keeping your gums healthy.
