Dr. Ryan Donovan was born and raised in Bradenton, Florida. Dr. Donovan attended the University of South Florida and earned his Bachelor's degree in Chemistry. He then went on to the University of Florida College of Dentistry, where he earned his Doctor of Dental Medicine degree (D.M.D.). Finally, Dr. Donovan chose to remain another 3 years at the University of Florida College of Dentistry to complete his specialty training in periodontics and dental implant surgery, where he served as Chief Resident in his third year. He earned his Master’s degree (M.S.) and published his thesis paper in the Journal of Periodontology. Dr. Donovan is a member of the Lee County Dental Society, Florida Dental Association, American Dental Association, Florida Association of Periodontists, American Academy of Periodontology, Southern Academy of Periodontology, and Florida Dental Society of Anesthesiology. He is also the founder and director of the City of Palms Study Club, an affiliate of the nationally recognized Seattle Study Club. The City of Palms Study Club is a dental study club comprised of dentists and specialists from the Fort Myers area committed to excellence in comprehensive and interdisciplinary dental treatment. In addition to these professional endeavors, Dr. Donovan attends numerous continuing dental education courses well beyond what is mandated by the Florida Board of Dentistry. Dr. Donovan is a board certified periodontist, certified by the American Board of Periodontology, which requires significant achievements beyond the mandatory educational requirements of the specialty. Board certification demonstrates the highest level of academic achievement afforded to a periodontist. Dr. Donovan resides in Fort Myers, Florida with his wife and two daughters.
