Having grown up in the area, Dr. Lara attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where she received a Bachelor of Science degree in Public Health, and a Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) degree from East Carolina University School of Dental Medicine. Her postdoctoral training included both a General Practice Residency and an Oral Medicine residency at Carolinas Medical Center (Atrium Health) in Charlotte. She practices both comprehensive general dentistry as well as oral medicine (oral lesions, TMJ/TMD). Dr. Lara enjoys getting to know each and every patient and working together to achieve your oral health goals. In addition to private practice, Dr. Lara serves as a clinical instructor for dental residents at Atrium Health, where she mentors and trains the next generation of dentists. She also provides hospital-based dental care for patients with special needs, delivering treatment under general anesthesia in the operating room to ensure safety and comfort for those who cannot be treated in a traditional dental setting. Dr. Lara is an active member of the Gaston County Dental Society, American Academy of Oral Medicine, Academy of General Dentistry and Spear dental continuing education. In her free time, Dr. Lara enjoys music, traveling, reading, hiking, and spending time with her son, friends, and family.
