Dr. Frederick E. Ranney III, D.M.D. became part of the Lakeview Dental Associates family in January 2018. Dr. Ranney was born in East Lansing, while his parents were students at Michigan State University and his father completed his degree in Veterinary Medicine. Along with much of his family, Dr. Ranney continued in the medical field. However, after joining his father on many vet calls throughout his young life, he opted for a field with better hours. Returning to East Lansing, Dr. Ranney received his Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Michigan State University. He attended the University of Kentucky for his Doctor of Medical Dentistry degree, and then went on to earn a Certificate of Advanced Education in General Dentistry from the University of Louisville. He has practiced general dentistry throughout Michigan for 23 years, and practiced in Kentucky for 5 years prior to that. For five years, while practicing in Mt. Pleasant, Dr. Ranney served as an adjunct professor for University of Michigan dental students, teaching and mentoring them during their externships. Dr. Ranney enjoys spending time with family and friends. His hobbies include bird hunting, fishing, travel, and photography. He has been to Alaska on four occasions, allowing him to pursue each of his interests. He has a son, Eli, with whom he shares his love of the outdoors. His extensive dental experience has allowed Dr. Ranney to provide exceptional patient care, from his skillful restorations to being sensitive and receptive to his patients’ concerns. His main objective is for his patients to be well informed, confident and comfortable with their dental treatment.
