Dr. Devon Allison completed her undergraduate degree at Ursinus College in Pennsylvania, where she majored in biology. She attended the University of Maryland Dental School, afterwards completing her residency in periodontics and a one-year post-doc that focused on bone biology and murine models of bone remodeling. Dr. Allison also completed a PhD in molecular microbiology and immunology at the same time as her dental degree. Her doctoral thesis focused on polymicrobial dual-species biofilm infections and the spread of disease from the oral cavity. Dr. Allison continues her education daily – in addition to being a periodontist she is also a clinical reviewer for the Food and Drug Administration for the Implantable Dental Devices Team. In this role, she uses current clinical practices and research to help determine the safety and effectiveness of new dental devices prior to their launch on the United States market. Dr. Allison is a member of the following professional organizations: American Dental Association® American Academy of Periodontology American Board of Periodontology (Diplomate). As a periodontist, her goal is to provide the best periodontal care possible and help her patients gain the knowledge and confidence to care for their gums log-term. Dr. Allison wants her patients to know that keeping their teeth is possible well into their senior years, and she strives to meet her patients where they are currently at and work together with them to achieve their best smile and improve their oral health. In her free time, Dr. Allison enjoys reading non-fiction, staying active with CrossFit and tending to her hydroponic garden. She hopes to compete in a CrossFit event soon and enjoys growing fresh vegetables year-round.
