Dr. Don received his undergraduate degree from the Ohio State University. After serving with the Army in Vietnam, he graduated from Detroit Mercy School of Dentistry in 1974. He completed a general practice residency at the Martinsburg VA Medical Center, and opened his private practice at Foxcroft Avenue in 1985. His practice served the Martinsburg community for 33 years before he sold it to his daughter Erica. Dr. Don has served in a variety of leadership positions within organized dentistry, most notably with the American Dental Association, the American College of Dentists, the Academy of Laser Dentistry, and the Society for Dental Ethics. He has authored or contributed to a number of dental publications. His most recent work is a textbook, Dental Ethics at Chairside, published in the spring of 2018. Don and his late wife Deb have four children (including Dr. Erica) and six grandchildren.
