Not every child enjoys visiting their doctor or dentist for his or her regular check-up. Having a beautiful “princess” of his own and an adventurous son with boundless energy, Dr. John understands the challenges parents face when it comes to starting and maintaining their child’s oral hygiene. It was only natural that Dr. John decided to combine his desire to create a positive dental experience for children with his passion for dentistry. During his two-year post-doctoral fellowship in pediatric dentistry and advanced hospital training at The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) and the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine , Dr. John recognized that treating children from infancy through their teenage years was not the same. Thus, Dr. John helps his patients and their families understand that every child’s oral health care need and management is different. But what remains constant is the privilege Dr. John feels when he can share each patient’s unique journey with them. Dr. John’s path to becoming a pediatric dentist was also a unique journey. After receiving his Bachelor of Science in Molecular Biology from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) , he flew across the country to solve complex business problems for the pharmaceutical and healthcare industry as a management consultant. Then he committed himself to advance the development of life-saving therapies for Hemophilia and Von Willebrand Disease patients worldwide at a biotech company. While working with children with medically complex bleeding disorders, Dr. John realized that he wanted to dedicate his life to directly impacting the lives of children as a healthcare provider. While training at the Nation’s #1 Children’s Hospital, The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia , Dr. John gained valuable clinical experience managing dental trauma, treating medically complex patients and children with severe disabilities requiring advanced treatment planning and techniques, sedation, and orthodontics. Dr. John graduated from the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine with Honors in Clinical Restorative Dentistry. He was awarded the Henry B. Robinson Award in Restorative Dentistry for graduating with the highest proficiency in clinical dentistry and was selected into the prestigious National Dental Honor Society – Omicron Kappa Upsilon (OKU). Dr. John loves bringing smiles to children and makes his patient’s oral health care his top priority. In his spare time, Dr. John enjoys volunteering his time with international medical/dental mission organizations, playing tennis with his son, tasting new cuisines, and watching Philadelphia and Boston sports teams.
