Dr. Sweeney received his Bachelor of Science degree in Genetics from the University of California, Davis in 1975, followed by a Master of Arts in Biology from California State University, Chico in 1977. He went on to earn his Registered Dental Hygienist certification from Foothill College in 1979. In 1984, he received his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of Washington and later completed his Certificate in Periodontics at the University of Washington in 1986. He participates in continuing education and professional organisations including Greater Eastside Study Group, Mercer Circle, Seattle Study Club, Spear Study Club, ITI Study Club, GARDEN Company, Platinum Circle/Fortune Management, LANAP Study Club, and Center for Leadership Maturity. He supports Seattle Children’s Hospital and General Hospital Services Support.
