Dr. George Galaz was born in Santiago, Chile and was raised in western Canada. He graduated from The University of Texas at Arlington with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology. He continued his studies locally, earning his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from Texas A&M College of Dentistry. Here is where he was also awarded the Warren A. Parker Award for “Outstanding Contributions in Community Dentistry.” Dr. Galaz was inspired to practice dentistry when his family first moved to Canada. His parents worked evening custodial assignments, and one night after caretaking a dental office, they met the owner doctor, who learned of their dream of starting a new and better life. The doctor insisted on offering gratuitous dental care for the first couple of years while the family planted their new roots. Upon learning of this doctor’s kind and humbling generosity, Dr. Galaz was strongly inspired to pursue a career in dentistry and strive to pay it forward to others. He is a member of the Academy of General Dentistry (AGD), American Dental Association (ADA), Texas Dental Association (TDA), and Spear Education Study Club.
