Dr. Casarez-Quintana, a native of Albuquerque, New Mexico, pursued her undergraduate studies at Baylor University, earning a Bachelor of Science in Education with a focus in Pre-Dentistry, while competing as a Division I soccer player. She went on to obtain her Doctorate of Dental Surgery from the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio (UTHSCSA) in 2015, graduating with distinction in dental education and induction into the Omicron Kappa Upsilon Dental Honor Society. Following dental school, she completed a two-year Advanced General Dentistry residency at UTHSCSA before returning to Albuquerque to practice alongside her father in private practice. It was during this time she discovered her passion for surgery and Periodontics, leading her back to San Antonio to pursue specialty training in Periodontics at UTHSCSA. During her residency, Dr. Casarez-Quintana earned a Masters Degree in Biomedical Sciences for her research comparing two different bone grafts following tooth extraction. Her extensive work earned her the GSBS Outstanding MS Student Research Award, and she was invited to present her findings at the EAO Congress in Geneva, Switzerland. She has also contributed to several scientific publications. Additionally, during residency, she received advanced training in various sedation techniques including nitrous oxide, oral and IV moderate conscious sedation. After several years of practicing in the Northeast, Dr. Casarez-Quintana recently relocated from southern Maine back to Texas. She currently splits her time between Dripping Springs Family Smiles and serving as the Associate Program Director at UTHSCSA Graduate Periodontics.
