Dr. Ritter was born and raised in Southwest Louisiana. He graduated from McNeese State University with his Bachelor of Science degree in Biology in 2015. There, he founded the McNeese Pre-Dental Society and served as the first President of the organization. During his time as an undergraduate student, he regularly shadowed his mentors, Drs. Hannaman and Hebert. After college, he attended the Louisiana State University School of Dentistry in New Orleans and earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree in May of 2019 and graduated with honors in research. While in dental school, he received several honors and awards including the William F. Toler Memorial Scholarship, the Award for Outstanding Achievement in Operative Dentistry, the Community Dentistry and Public Health Award, and the Humanistic Culture Award. During his summers off from dental school, Dr. Ritter spent his time conducting advanced research projects with several faculty mentors. In 2018 he traveled to Memphis, TN, and Ft. Lauderdale, FL, to present his research at the American Academy of Dental Research conference. When he wasn’t working in the research lab, he pursued his passion of mentoring underclassmen and pre-dental students. He served as the Admissions Ambassadors Coordinator and worked directly under the Dean of Admissions to help conduct interviews and workshops, as well as travel to undergraduate programs for recruiting. Dr. Ritter continues to carry out his passion of helping shape future generations of dentists by mentoring pre-dental students in the Lake Charles area. Dr. Ritter is an avid fan of Louisiana sports, including the Saints, Tigers, and Pelicans. In his free time, he enjoys grilling on his patio with his wife, Alexa, and his Cavachons, Oakley and Leo.
