Growing up in Ephrata, I chose the dental profession from a desire to work with people while using my artistic background to work with my hands. Being also drawn to the sciences, dentistry checked a lot of boxes for my interests and aptitudes. I attended East Stroudsburg University where I received a Bachelor of Science in Biology. This was followed by dental school. My Doctorate of Dental Surgery (DDS) was awarded by the University of Maryland School of Dentistry. During dental school I was selected as a team member of Operation Smile to educate and volunteer our services to the dental students and good people of Hanoi, Vietnam. This was the first dental mission ever for Operation Smile. Following dental school, I promptly enlisted with the U.S. Public Health Service as a commissioned officer, and was stationed at the Blackfeet Indian Hospital in Browning, Montana. I have been honored to care for the oral health of my hometown for over 25 years.
