Our practice was founded by the late Dr. S. Craig Taylor. A resident of Monroe since he was four years old, Dr. Taylor was an honor graduate of both Monroe Area High and the University of Georgia , receiving a Bachelor of Science, Magna Cum Laude in Zoology in 1976. He continued his studies at the Medical College of Georgia School of Dentistry in Augusta, being awarded the Doctor of Dental Medicine degree (D.M.D.) in 1980. Dr. Taylor opened his private practice in Monroe in 1981, moving to our present location on Broad Street in 1986. He and his wife Kathy proudly raised two daughters, Kelly and Kristen. In 2014, Dr. Micah Shaw joined the practice and began learning the personal, welcoming care that Dr. Taylor had built into Taylor Made Smiles and the Monroe community. The two worked together to continue bringing healthy smiles to Monroe, GA and the surrounding area. Dr. Taylor resided in Monroe until his passing in 2019. Taylor Made Smiles continues to run with the legacy of care for our patients and community that Dr. Taylor left behind. Over the years, Dr. Taylor's commitment to staying involved in the Monroe community was a priority in both his personal and professional life. He was an Eagle Scout and served in a number of leadership positions in the Northeast Georgia Council Boy Scouts of America, receiving both the District Award of Merit and the Silver Beaver Award. He served on the Monroe City Council, the Walton County Development Authority, as Chairman of the Monroe Utilities Network and president of On Stage, Inc., and in local student and parent-teacher organizations. He was a Past President of the Monroe Rotary Club and was both a Paul Harris and Will Watt Fellow.
