Dr. Paul Alper was raised in Gloucester, MA and received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Boston University College of Liberal Arts in 1961. In 1965, Dr. Paul earned a Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from New York University College of Dentistry. And in 1967, he earned a post-graduate degree in Periodontology from Boston University School of Dental Medicine. In 1971, after three years in the Air Force, Dr. Paul opened his private practice in Melrose, MA. In 1973, Dr. Paul founded the Tri-County Dental Study Club, an influential study club for area dentists and on which he served as President since its inception. Dr. Paul was also the Treasurer of the East Middlesex District Dental Society for over ten years. Dr. Paul was a member of the American Academy of Periodontology, the American Dental Association, and the Massachusetts Dental Society where he was actively involved in the annual Yankee Dental Congress for almost fifteen years. Later in his career, Dr. Paul donated time over the course of a decade as a clinical instructor at Boston University School of Dental Medicine in the post-graduate department of Periodontology and Oral Biology. Dr. Paul was very proud to practice with his son, Dr. Joel Alper, for over sixteen years.
