Coming from a family that served in the foreign service, Dr. Daniel Matthews grew up moving around internationally. When they were stateside between assignments, they had a home in Vienna, Virginia. He was fortunate to be able to spend time exploring countries like Australia, China, Pakistan, Malaysia, Hong Kong, and Taiwan throughout his childhood. He graduated from High school in Oregon but returned to Virginia for his undergraduate studies at Virginia Tech, where he received a Bachelor of Science in Human Nutrition, Foods, and Exercise. He then went on to complete his Doctor of Dental Surgery (D.D.S.) degree in 2014 at the University of Maryland in Baltimore, where he met his wife, who is also a dentist. Dr. Matthews is a self-proclaimed dental nerd, always learning as much as he can to expand his skills. He enjoys going to dental conferences to learn new techniques and see what is on the cutting edge of dentistry. Dr. Matthews has focused a lot of his postgraduate training on cosmetic and implant dentistry. He takes great pride in using the latest technology to produce high-quality dentistry, all while keeping the patient as comfortable as possible. His favorite thing to do in dentistry is to give someone their smile back. Dr. Matthews lives in Herndon with his wife and two children. He likes to spend his free time doing active things like running, biking, and snowboarding.
