I was born in Lancaster, Ohio, and lived on a 1,000-acre farm near there until I was in the 6th grade. At that point, my family moved to a 35-acre small farm in Somerset, Ohio. After I graduated from Sheridan High School in Thornville, Ohio, in 1973, I went to The Ohio State University. While there, I was in the marching band for five years. I received B.S. and M.S. degrees from Ohio State in human nutrition and food management and also graduated from OSU with my D.D.S. degree in 1984. After practicing in both New London and Chippewa Lake for a short period, I bought the Chippewa Lake office and practiced there for 26 years. At that point, I bought a practice in Mansfield, and my family and I moved to Ashland. My wife, Debi, and I were married in 1994 and now have 9 children as well as 11 grandchildren. I enjoy sports, music, and spending time with my family. Mansfield Baptist Temple is my church home. As an active member there, I teach Sunday school and play trumpet in the orchestra. I’ve been blessed to be able to go on nearly 10 mission trips to countries such as China, Ghana, Honduras, the Dominican Republic, Belize, Mexico, and New York City. I was able to do dental work on some of these trips. I’m thankful to live in America and to enjoy the freedoms we have here, not the least of which is the religious freedom to choose to accept Jesus Christ as my personal Savior.
