Dr. Jerome Gardner was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York. His family chose to move to Long Island where he has remained ever since. Unlike most children at the age of 7, he wanted to become a dentist. Dr. Gardner graduated from Roslyn High School and went on to do his undergraduate work at Ohio State University. Due to some family financial hardships he eventually moved back to NY where he continued his education at both Hunter and Queens Colleges. He continued his graduate work at NYU College of Dentistry where he received his D.D.S. degree. After graduation from NYU, he chose to serve in the US Air Force. While there he received special medical training working with the Flight Surgeons in a hospital environment assisting with Obstetrics and General Surgery. He also had the opportunity to work with an Oral Surgeon to reconstruct lower jaw aesthetics (Sliding Osteotomy), whereby a so-called “bull dog” lower jaw would be reset to a more normal aesthetic jaw. Several colleagues and he also did extensive research on the efficacy of fluoride applications for children. In addition, he received considerable experience in Endodontic (Root Canal) Therapy. After finishing his military commitment, he went on to work with a few dentists before forming his initial partnership of seven years. During that time, Dr. Gardner spent many years researching and placing Dental Implants which were quite experimental at that time. Some of those implants are still functioning today! When that partnership ended, Dr. Gardner set out on his own and built the Liberty Arms Professional Building where he still practices today. He forged another partnership with Dr. Thomas Donnelly which has lasted for over forty years. Together they built a very warm and professional relationship with their staff and patients. Dr. Gardner has seven children, sixteen grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. Among some of the Professional organizations Dr. Gardner belonged to are: The American Dental Association, the First District Dental Society, the Suffolk County Dental Society, the American Endodontic Society, and the Suffolk Academy of Medicine.
