Dr. Paul Chang earned his Doctorate of Dental Surgery from Baltimore College of Dentistry in Maryland in 2003. He then completed an intensive five-year residency at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio (UTHSCSA), earning specialty certificates in both Periodontics and Prosthodontics. During this time, he also conducted groundbreaking research on bio-modification of titanium surfaces to enhance initial implant stability, earning a Master’s degree in Biological Sciences. While in residency, Dr. Chang participated in pioneering clinical trials involving Procera all-zirconia implant restorations. He became the first dentist in the United States to successfully restore full-arch implant cases (allon4) using all-zirconia materials, including screw-retained three-unit FPDs and full-arch screw-retained hybrid restorations (fixed dentures). Shortly after completing his residency, Dr. Chang achieved the extraordinary distinction of passing both the American Board of Periodontology and the American Board of Prosthodontics examinations, making him one of only ten dual board-certified specialists in these fields in the United States. His dual specialty training allows him to provide unparalleled expertise in dental implant and periodontal procedures, including complex restorations, All-on-4, Teeth-in-a-Day, and minimally invasive Pinhole Surgical Technique (PST) for gum recession, as well as the management of implant complications such as peri-implantitis, bone grafting challenges, and implant failures. An esteemed educator, Dr. Chang serves as an adjunct professor in the Department of Prosthodontics at UTHSCSA Dental School. He is also an active board member of the Southwest Society of Periodontists and has authored multiple publications on dental implants. He frequently lectures at advanced continuing education courses nationwide. Dr. Chang is a member of the American College of Prosthodontists, American Academy of Periodontology, Southwest Society of Periodontists, American Dental Association, and the Fourth District Dental Society. He currently maintains a distinguished specialty practice in McKinney, Texas, offering advanced implant, periodontal, and restorative care with a focus on precision, innovation, and long-term success.
