Dr. Malloy's passion for dentistry was ignited early on. Growing up in an Air Force family, he had the privilege of living all over the country and abroad. It was during these years, while shadowing his father, a Prosthodontist in the Air Force and later the Director of Clinical Restorative Dentistry at OHSU, that he first discovered the blend of art and science present in dentistry. His fascination grew as he spent time in a dental lab during high school, gaining a firsthand appreciation—this early exposure laid the groundwork for his academic journey. Dr. Malloy attended Gonzaga University for his undergraduate studies and continued his dental education at OHSU. As a dedicated student, he was actively involved in student government, research, and various dental organizations. His academic achievements were recognized with numerous scholarships and awards, including the prestigious Hinman Student Research Symposium award for his work on CAD-CAM milling applications. Upon graduation with Great Honors, he was selected by the faculty as the top student in Oral Surgery, Implant Dentistry, Operative Dentistry, and Dental Material Research. Driven by his desire for further specialization, Dr. Malloy pursued a three-year residency in Periodontics and Implant Surgery at OHSU. During this time, he gained extensive experience in soft tissue grafting, dental implant surgery, and complex dental procedures. His research on digital radiography and dental implants was presented at the Academy of Osseointegration's annual meeting. Dr. Malloy's commitment to excellence is further evidenced by his board certification in Periodontology and Implant Surgery, a distinction achieved by only a select group of periodontists. He remains actively involved in continuing education and shares his knowledge through lectures on various topics, from soft tissue grafting to full-mouth implant reconstructions. When he's not immersed in his dental practice or academic pursuits, Dr. Malloy enjoys spending quality time with his family, exploring the great outdoors, and cheering on Gonzaga Basketball!
