Dr. Taidy Costoya, originally from Cuba and raised in Florida, has received her D.M.D. and graduated with honors from the prestigious Nova Southeastern University College of Dental Medicine in 2006. She was fortunate to meet Dr. Michael Schenkman in 2010, and with pleasure, she took over his practice in November 2011. Her commitment to his previous patients and new patients alike is unparalleled. From an early age, she developed a strong interest in and great reverence for reconstructive dentistry, and in her pursuit of knowledge, she completed an additional 3-year post-graduate specialty in prosthodontics at Nova Southeastern University School of Dental Medicine in 2009. The American Dental Association defines prosthodontics as “the dental specialty pertaining to the diagnosis, treatment planning, rehabilitation, and maintenance of the oral function, comfort, appearance, and health of patients with clinical conditions associated with missing or deficient teeth and/or oral and maxillofacial tissues using biocompatible substitutes.” Prosthodontists are highly trained in cosmetics, dental implants, crowns, bridges, dentures, temporomandibular disorders (TMJ/TMD), and more. Dr. Costoya is a single mom of three amazing children. Since losing her husband to cancer, she offers free oral cancer screenings to patients and donates to cancer charities, including the Dolphins Cancer Challenge. She is also an avid animal lover, with three fur babies, two of which are rescues. In her spare time, she grows orchids—a true labor of love!
