As a native to Utah, Dr. Okubo is proud to practice in her hometown. She grew up riding dirt bikes, snowboarding, camping, hiking, river rafting and traveling. Her family has a long lineage of dental and medical professionals. As a child, she had an interest in artistic expression and various fine detail crafts. During her undergraduate work at the University of Utah, she studied Psychology and Biology. These influences fostered a passion for the interpersonal connection, artistry and medical complexity of dentistry. You will not find a bigger dental dork who truly loves learning and providing her patients with gentle, high quality care. Dr. Okubo pursued her dental education at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, Virginia. During her senior graduate year, she was awarded the Southeastern Academy of Prosthodontics award for outstanding achievement and contribution in the areas of fixed prosthodontics (crowns, bridges, implant crowns). She later returned to Utah to complete a dental residency with one of the most recognized programs in the nation. The VA Salt Lake City Dental Residency program focuses on dental surgery, implants, cosmetics and full mouth rehabilitation. She was honored to serve the dental needs of the veterans in the state of Utah. After residency, Dr Okubo joined Creek Road Dental Care. She has enjoyed getting to know patients who have been a part of the practice for over 30 years. During her first few years of practice, Dr Okubo completed a dental Fellowship program which involves 500 hours of continuing education and a rigorous examination process. Receiving a Fellowship with the Academy of General Dentistry means that she has demonstrated an advanced knowledge of every aspect of general dentistry and each of the nine specialties within dentistry. This is an accomplishment that only 6 percent of the dentists within the United States have achieved. Dr. Okubo also enjoys a part time faculty position with the University of Utah General Practice Residency. She takes pride in facilitating the growth and development of young dentists from all over the nation. She is grateful for the opportunity to stay involved in academics, research and the newest techniques of modern dentistry. The residency program honored her with the Jay A. Aldous Distinguished Service Award for her many years of service and dedication to the residency program. With a decade of practicing dentistry behind her, she is looking forward to many more decades dedicated to the quality and comfort she strives to provide her patients.
