Dr. Dederich's past employment includes being a professor and head of the Department of Periodontics at Louisiana State University School of Dentistry in New Orleans. He was also the clinical director of the Graduate Program in Periodontology at the University of Alberta School of Dentistry. Additionally, Dr. Dederich was intimately involved in the graduate training of almost 50 periodontal specialists over the years. He has also given hundreds of national and international presentations and published numerous articles. Dr. Dederich's PhD research focused on laser and tissue interaction. He also earned a certificate in periodontics from the University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine. He is a former vice-chair of the American Dental Association's Council on Scientific Affairs.
