Originally from Birmingham, Dr. Joseph Willis grew up in Mobile, attending local schools including Corpus Christi and McGill-Toolen. During summers home from college, he worked in the operating room at Providence Hospital but gravitated more toward cases with the oral surgeons. This was the first time he had considered dentistry as a profession. After graduating from Auburn University with a BS in Biomedical Science, he returned to Mobile and got a job as a Dental Assistant to explore the industry further. It was this experience that showed Dr. Willis his path was dentistry. After completing his DMD at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, Dr. Willis moved back to Mobile and started an associateship with his mentor, Dr. Vincent Arata. In 2013, Dr. Willis decided to take the leap into practice ownership and bought into the practice of his former dentist, Dr. Barry Langley. He worked hard to build the practice, incorporating new techniques and modern technologies. Dr. Willis has been CEREC certified since 2013, receiving extensive training and even working as a CEREC trainer. It is his focus on bringing dental technology to Mobile, the old-school philosophy of always putting the patient first, and his genuine interest in people that keeps Dr. Willis motivated. In 2018, he met Dr. Jimbo Martin and quickly became close friends. Dr. Martin asked Dr. Willis to buy his long established dental practice and provide care for his dental family. Dr. Willis obliged and strives to keep Dr. Martin’s spirit alive for all his former patients and colleagues. When he is not serving his patients, you can find Dr. Willis spending time with his wife and 3 sons while enjoying the great outdoors. He coaches his kids in soccer and is very involved in his church as well as the local school.
