Dr. Hargis is a 1990 graduate of Louisiana College, with a Bachelor of Science in Biology and a minor in Chemistry. He attended the Louisiana State University Medical Center School of Dentistry to earn his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree. He then completed a 2-year residency in hospital dentistry at Huey P. Long Memorial Hospital (Big Charity) in New Orleans. In 1997, Dr. Hargis moved back to Central Louisiana to begin practicing; he grew up in Grant Parish and always planned to return here to practice one day. He took over a clinic in Montgomery, Louisiana, where he served this rural community for 11 years. In 1999, he also opened a private practice in Prospect. Since 1997 Dr. Hargis has been the only dentist to serve Grant Parish continually.
