James Salman was born and raised in Louisville, Kentucky. He attended the University of Kentucky where he achieved his B.S in biology with honors and University of Louisville for dental school. Dr. Salman attended Loyola University Medical Center in Chicago, Illinois for his oral and maxillofacial surgery training. During his training he was awarded the Mark. J Steinberg Academic Achievement Award for excellence on the in-service training exam. Dr. Salman is thoroughly trained in the full scope of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery. This encompasses office-based procedures such as routine and difficult teeth extractions, alveoloplasty, removal or treatment of impacted teeth, general anesthesia, and the diagnosis and placement of dental implants. He also has extensive experience in the diagnosis and treatment of complex craniofacial anomaly procedures (orthognathic surgery), management of orofacial pathology, facial trauma surgery, and complex bone grafting techniques. Dr. Salman is an associate clinical professor at the University of Pennsylvania Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Department and trains oral surgery residents and 3rd and 4th year dental students. Dr. Salman is a board certified diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. Dr. Salman is a member of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and the American Dental Society. Dr. Salman has served as the President of the New Jersey Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons. He is certified in basic life support and advanced cardiac life support.
