Dr. Smidt was born and raised on Long Island, New York, before attending The Ohio State University, where he played Division 1 Lacrosse. While earning his Bachelor of Science in Biology at OSU, he discovered his passion for dentistry and decided to make it his career. This journey led him to Salt Lake City, Utah, where he attended Roseman College of Dental Medicine. He was honored with induction into the prestigious Omicron Kappa Upsilon National Dental Honor Society, an achievement reserved for the top graduates of his class. In addition to his academic success, Dr. Smidt served as the president of Roseman’s Academy of General Dentistry, where he organized continuing education (CE) courses for the school, demonstrating his dedication to lifelong learning and professional development. Dr. Smidt then went on to complete an Advanced Education in General Dentistry Residency Program at the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill, where he gained extensive experience providing complex dental care at a Veterans Affairs clinic. His time at the VA strengthened his commitment to serving diverse patient populations with compassion and excellence. Now based in Charlotte, Dr. Smidt lives with his fiancée Lauren and their goldendoodle, Griffin. He is excited to bring exceptional, patient-centered care to the Harrisburg community. His mission is to help every patient achieve optimal oral health in a comfortable and welcoming environment.
