Stuart Feurstein knew at a young age that he was interested in the medical field and was good at working with his hands. When he was in high school and college, he spent a lot of time in the office of his dentist, who was also a friend of the family. “I didn’t know much about dentistry, but I watched as he put his patients at ease with his kind manner,” Dr. Feurstein says. “The work he did really changed people’s lives and inspired me to want to do the same.” After graduation from Columbia University, where he earned a degree in chemical engineering, Dr. Feurstein attended the University of Connecticut School of Dental Medicine. He graduated with a Doctor of Dental Medicine degree in 1985. He completed a residency at Montefiore Medical Center in the Bronx and later worked in his hometown, Port Chester, New York, for the dentist who inspired him to follow in his footsteps. “I worked in his office after completing dental school and my residency program and after working in another practice,” Dr. Feurstein says. “It was almost like a residency program in itself, learning techniques and picking up tips that can only come from years of experience.” Dr. Feurstein went into private practice in Mount Kisco in 1992 and moved to his current modern office in town in 2000. ... Since 2012 Dr. Feurstein has been teaching dental residents various aspects of laser and general dentistry at Saint Barnabas Hospital in the Bronx as an associate medical staff member.
