Dr James “Jim Ed” Lane

Dr. Lane is a lifelong resident of Murfreesboro, Tennessee, with deep family and community ties that have shaped both his personal life and professional journey. The son of Miles, a veterinarian, and Betty, a nurse, Dr. Lane was surrounded from an early age by examples of compassion and service. His upbringing instilled in him the importance of integrity, empathy, and dedication—qualities that continue to define his approach to patient care today. Growing up in Murfreesboro, Dr. Lane developed a strong connection to the community he still proudly calls home. He spent his childhood surrounded by family, friends, and mentors who helped shape his character and work ethic. From spending countless hours on local baseball fields to enjoying the outdoors, those early years fostered a lasting appreciation for the Murfreesboro community and continue to inspire the way he serves his patients today. As Dr. Lane progressed through high school and graduated from Oakland High School in 1997, he began to develop an interest in pursuing a career in healthcare. Inspired by his parents’ commitment to helping others—and encouraged by positive experiences at his own dentist and orthodontist—he recognized that dentistry was the ideal profession to combine his love of science with his desire to improve people’s lives. Dr. Lane began his college career at Berry College, where he played baseball, before transferring to the University of Tennessee in Knoxville. There, he followed a pre-dental curriculum and earned his bachelor’s degree in microbiology. During his time at UT, he also met his future wife, Katie, who has been his partner and greatest supporter throughout his journey. Following graduation, Dr. Lane attended the University of Tennessee Health Science Center College of Dentistry in Memphis, where he earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree in 2006. He returned home to Middle Tennessee and began his career in Tullahoma before opening his own private practice in Murfreesboro in 2009. Since that time, Dr. Lane has built a practice centered on clinical excellence, advanced technology, and genuine patient relationships. Outside of the office, Dr. Lane enjoys playing golf, cooking, traveling, and spending time with Katie and their two daughters, Libi and Ansley. Whether he’s grilling on a Sunday afternoon, enjoying good music on the front porch, or spending time with family after church, faith and family remain at the heart of everything he does. He takes time to listen, explain, and ensure that each person feels comfortable, informed, and confident about their treatment.
