Dr. Tatyana Straus is a general dentist who believes that everyone deserves to feel confident in their smile. Dr. Straus is passionate about providing trauma-informed care and helping patients overcome dental anxiety: “I love changing people’s perception of dentistry and helping them overcome their reservations about seeking treatment. I want people to feel respected, attended to, and empowered to take care of their oral health.” Dr. Straus grew up in Kentucky. She earned her bachelor’s degree from University of Chicago, where she double majored in Psychology and Biology with specialization in Neuroscience. She completed her Doctor of Dental Medicine degree at the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine. Dr. Straus also received a Masters of Bioethics from the University of Pennsylvania Perelman School of Medicine, became Fellow of the Academy of General Dentistry, and completed the Penn Program in Clinical Conflict Management, and the Community Medicine Leadership Fellowship for ACTION, which aims to strengthen the primary care workforce in underserved areas. In addition, Dr. Straus is a Clinical Associate Professor at the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine in the Division of Community Oral Health, where she teaches on topics of public health, ethics, and practice management, among others.
