Dr. Mary C. DeMello graduated with a B.S. in Biology from St. Anselm College and is a 1986 graduate of Tufts University School of Dental Medicine (TUSDM). She completed a general practice residency program at Tufts New England Medical Center in 1987 and remained on staff with the program until 1993. Dr. DeMello has been involved in organized dentistry at both the state and local levels since entering the profession. She is a member of the American Dental Association (ADA) and has chaired the Committee on Dental Practice in Massachusetts for 16 years for the Massachusetts Dental Society (MDS). Following that position, she chaired the Standing Committee on Legislation and Government Affairs for 4 years. Starting in June 2021, she will become the Region 4 Trustee for the MDS, serving a 2 year term, representing the districts of Metropolitan and Middlesex. For her regional dental meeting, the Yankee Dental Congress, Dr. DeMello has participated, at various times, on the scientific, exhibits, general arrangements and hospitality committees for over 25 years. In recognition of her efforts, she was awarded the Armen Nalband Award for Volunteerism in 2012, by the MDS and the Robert L. Burke Award in 2016, by the Metropolitan District Dental Society. To continue to expand her dental knowledge and skills, Dr. DeMello is a member of the Central New England Dental Research Group and Spear Study Club. Dr. DeMello is an active alum at St. Anselm Collge and TUSDM. She is presently Annual Fund Co-Chair for the Capital Campaign and Co-Chair of the Dental M Club at Tufts. Dr. DeMello lives in Medfield and has two grown children, Nikki and Zac. In her spare time, she enjoys running, biking (just about any outdoor activity), going to the theatre and travel.
