Dr. Leah R. Strange grew up in Indiana, and she met her husband, Aaron, in first grade. She attended Purdue University for her undergraduate studies where she majored in Health Sciences with a minor in Psychology. She also played volleyball for Purdue's varsity team. She graduated with highest distinction from Purdue in December 2005. Dr. Strange and her husband decided that the winters were much too cold for them in Indiana, so they relocated to Ocala, Florida after they married in 2006. Aaron started working, and Leah started dental school. Their son Anderson was born in 2009, and their son Harper was born in June of 2015. During her third year of dental school, Dr. Strange realized that she had a passion for periodontology. She applied to the graduate program at the University of Florida and was accepted. She served as the Chief Resident during her final year of her residency, and she finished her periodontal training in 2014. She received a Masters of Science Degree and her Professional Certificate in Periodontics in June of 2014. Her Masters Project focused on the differences in the microbiota of periodontal pathogens in smokers compared to non-smokers. Dr. Strange then joined the practice of Dr. Zaner and proceeded to purchase the practice in January of 2015. She passed both the written and oral exams required to become a Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology in June, 2015. As a proud alumna, Dr. Strange remains very involved with the University of Florida’s College of Dentistry. She gives guest lectures to the dental students, and she serves as courtesy faculty in the graduate periodontology clinic. Dr. Strange also serves on the Admissions Committee for the University of Florida’s College of Dentistry.
