Dr. David Blackett grew up near Salt Lake City, Utah and has five sisters! He is an Eagle Scout and taught children how to ski on weekends during high school. He graduated Brigham Young University in 1999 with a degree in Zoology after living in Italy for two years. Dr. Blackett graduated from Marquette University School of Dentistry in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and chose to practice dentistry in Grays Harbor County in 2003. He lives in Elma and is very active in the community with his church, the Elma Chamber of Commerce, and scouting. He was awarded the Cub Leader of the year award for the Coastal Waters District for 2013. He is a seven-time president of the Grays Harbor Dental Society and is a member of the Washington State Dental Association (WSDA) and the American Dental Association. Dr. Blackett was elected to the Elma City Council for a four-year term in 2009 and re-elected in 2013 and 2017. He was selected as the Mayor Pro Temp by his fellow councilmembers from 2012 to 2021. He is passionate in helping maintain and help our community grow. His wife, Rachel, has been the family activity planner and they have done numerous hikes around the PNW. The highlights include Tolmie Peak, Silver Falls State Park in Oregon and Skyline Trail Loop at Mount Rainier.
