Dr. Truong says that pediatric dentistry is consistently rewarding because he gets to make positive, lifelong impacts on the children he treats. Simply by teaching a young patient proper oral hygiene, he can ensure that their oral health, smile, and confidence will be in good shape for decades to come. Before he became a dentist, Dr. Truong volunteered for the Texas Mission of Mercy, which is a program that provides dental care for those who cannot afford treatment. During his time there, he got to assist a dentist in helping a homeless woman who had dealt with severe dental pain for 30 years. After her appointment, she was so overwhelmed with the relief she felt that she jumped out of the treatment chair and hugged Dr. Truong and the dentist. The experience both inspired him and broke his heart, and he decided to pursue dentistry so he could help other people just like the woman and hopefully prevent them from ending up in the same situation. When Dr. Truong isn’t spending time with his beautiful wife and their adorable toddler, you’ll almost always find him in the kitchen. He has been dabbling with food since he was in elementary school when he tried to improve the Totino’s frozen pizza recipe. Now, he tries to replicate dishes created by world-famous chefs. He says that cooking is his second passion after dentistry.
