Focused on helping his patients understand the vital connection between oral and overall health, Dr. Sams is devoted to increasing awareness of the importance of controlling and eliminating inflammation in the mouth, which serves as a main component in periodontal disease. His healthcare philosophy is to do no harm, and along with his desire to positively impact the health of his community, Dr. Sams prides himself on being able to help create and mend smiles his patients can be proud to share. Having earned his undergraduate degree in Biology at Pennsylvania State University and his DMD degree at the University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine, Dr. Sams has been caring for smiles for 33 years. He was an associate clinical professor at the University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine for 11 years, has served as President of the Board of Directors for the Sickle Cell Society since 1990, and stays up to date on the latest dentistry techniques and technologies through continuing education courses. Dr. Sams is a proud member of the American Academy of Implant Dentistry. When Dr. Sams is not caring for patients, he enjoys fishing, spending time with his two grandchildren, and practicing guitar.
